York Musical Society's annual choral workshop returned to St Lawrence Parish Church, York, on 17 January 2026, with David Pipe leading singers of all abilities through Karl Jenkins's Requiem. One of the most widely performed choral works of recent decades, Jenkins's Requiem blends Western choral traditions with Japanese haiku texts and world music influences, creating a distinctive and immediately accessible sound. As with all YMS workshops, the day-long session was open to everyone and culminated in a short informal performance for family and friends.
